Warehouse Technician

Job Summary: Assists the Pharmacist by filling physician orders for medications for oral and injectable use; mixes IV admixture solutions as required using aseptic technique in the Laminar Air Flow hood or Biological hood; type labels, prepares and files charge slips and performs other related duties.

General Responsibilities

  • Coordinates all supplies recall activities and assures compliance with FDA and company policies for same if applicable.

  • Maintains inventory of supplies and reorders them accordingly.

  • Ensure that Pharmacy Warehouse is in optimal condition at all times, according to State, Federal, and Accreditation Standards, and is stocked to handle packing, pulling, and dispatching appropriately.

  • Processes purchase orders if required.

  • Maintains inventory as required by the manager and company inventory control.

  • Performs equipment maintenance and record keeping activities in accordance with company policies.

  • Responsible to meet company, patient and contractual obligations.

  • Reviews shipping notices/invoices for accuracy.

  • Performs warehouse receiving/distribution activities.

  • Routes deliveries, as appropriate, to promote time and manpower efficiencies and keeps records of all routing.

  • Performs vehicle maintenance to assure compliance with manufacturer’s and company fleet management specifications.

  • Delivers equipment in the absence of service technician.

  • Monitors personnel and vehicle records and maintains in accordance with DOT guidelines.

  • Establishes preventive maintenance programs for all equipment lines, which comply with manufacturers’ guidelines and company policy.

  • Orients and evaluates all subordinate employees to their job responsibilities and provides ongoing in-service as required.

  • Participates in company’s performance activities.

  • Performs all aspects of client care in an environment that optimizes client safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.

  • Performs on-call activities as required.

  • Answers phone calls promptly and providing patients or nurses with all necessary support to take care of their supplies and delivery needs.

  • Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and clean. Wears appropriate clothing for job functions.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

  • Maintains regulatory requirements.

  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.

  • Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly.

  • Attends annual review and department in services, as scheduled.

  • Attends staff meetings, reads and returns all monthly staff meeting minutes.

  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.

  • Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.

  • Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility, as well as the focus statement of the department.

Regulatory Requirements

  • High School diploma or the equivalent.

  • Motivated and ambitious to learn.

  • General knowledge in equipment and supply procurement.

  • Appropriate driver’s licenses required for the position.

Language and Other Skills, Physical Demands

  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.

  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Additional languages preferred.

  • Basic computer knowledge.

  • Automated pharmacy systems.

  • Must be motivated.
