Director – Supply Chain Pharmacy Strategic Sourcing: Supply Chain Management

Summary:
Responsible for directing the daily operations of the Supply Chain Pharmacy Strategic Sourcing Department. Leads the Pharmacy Sourcing strategies within the healthcare system. Oversees all Pharmacy Sourcing activities for the Healthcare system as it relates to supplies, equipment, construction and services in alignment with system goals. Creates a collaborative partnership with stakeholders to support the overall Pharmacy Category as it relates to sourcing and other initiatives. Manages Group Purchasing (GPO) partnership to manage contracts, identify contact opportunities, contract performance and all applicable programs.

Detailed responsibilities:
• Responsible for creating Sourcing strategies to include process and execution. Develops and implements standards consistent with the administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization. Works in collaboration with stakeholders to ensure needs of the business are being met. Maximizes utilization of GPO contracts where appropriate. Maintains all documents organized assuring completeness to include approvals and all supporting documentation.
• Develops and maintains all Strategic Sourcing and Pharmacy process in alignment with departmental/organizational goals and compliance. Creates or updates policies and/procedures to assure there is consistency and compliance.
• Will seek out new contracting opportunities in collaboration with Pharmacy teams and under the direction of V.P. of Supply Chain Management and V.P of Pharmacy. Collaborates with Pharmacy Departments and other related stakeholders on sourcing strategies to include evaluation and implementation of products or services. Maintains standardization where appropriate .Develops a project pipeline and timelines for execution.
• Monitors and evaluates supply chain Pharmacy contract compliance and performance throughout the organization; monitors non-contract spend. Ensures accuracy of all agreements and maintains all deliverables including rebates and other related incentives. Identifies inefficiencies and conflicts and develops recommendations for process improvement.
• Assist teams with sourcing for alternatives due to backorders/shortages. In collaboration with Pharmacy and vendors monitors usage and inventory levels.
• Will lead the Value Analysis Pharmacy Program for Supply Chain. Will also be part of other Pharmacy/hospital committees within and outside of the organization. Supports and leads all VAP teams and Supply Chain Initiatives as it relates to Pharmacy.
• Leads workgroups, creates work plans, deliverables, savings estimates and desired outcomes for initiatives with targeted due dates. Participates in strategic planning within Supply Chain to target future cost savings, standardization and contract optimization.
• Leads contract preparation, evaluation, communication, and implementation and vendor performance of contracts.
• Leads RFP/RFQ/RFI or competitive quotation initiatives, including inception, receipt, financial analysis and vendor selection and award.
• Development and monitoring of Pharmacy Procurement activities and processes to include controls and compliance. Collaborates with the Corporate Supply Chain team to make sure all process and controls are followed. Manages certain aspects of internal and external audit.
• Collaborates with Supply Chain team on initiatives and special projects.
• Must be in the field with customers on a routine basis to maintain understanding of needs and performance of the Pharmacy Sourcing Department. Must keep positive rapport with stakeholders. Performs training when needed and appropriate.
• Manages and Maintains vendor relationships with all supplies. Creates value through partnerships and collaboration. Explores new technology, Pharmaceuticals, products and services that can provide value to the healthcare system.
• Monitors the market and industry trends to be proactive with all any current or future contracts.
• Creates reporting schema on contracting activities and KPI¿s. Reports progress on a monthly or as requested basis. Maintains reports on cost savings/increases, contract compliance and opportunities. Presents reports to VP of Supply Chain on a monthly basis.
• Hire and manage the performance of personnel to meet the needs of the assigned business unit. Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction and conflict management. Create a team that is results driven, ethical and customer service driven. Provides coaching and mentoring to staff.
