NBC6 & T51 Maintenance Technician

ResponsibilitiesThe Broadcast Engineer is responsible for overseeing the day to day mission critical Broadcast Systems within the television station.This position is responsible for the short and long-term technology strategy and health of the station. This includes maintaining and designing new infrastructure, tending to the operational integrity of stations broadcast critical systems while at the same time addressing and adhering to all company mandated security policies. This position interacts directly with the end users, including control room personnel, News and Digital teams, Sales team as well as others all with varying priorities and needs. You will also assist IT with implementation and basic support such as desk top and phone related support, hardware installations and network cabling infrastructure. This position is primarily located at our Miramar, Florida station but may be called upon to support our other stations in Florida.Qualifications/Requirements* Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or equivalent work experience.* 5 Years Experience with the following type systems: Dalet NRCS, Ross Overdrive, EVS, Adobe, Omneon Playout, Cisco, Isilon, Harmonics, Miranda (IControl) and Evertz (Namedropper, DSK), Miranda HD Router, Deko, Adams (RTS) and SSL Audio, Raritan (KVM) and Panasonic (DVC-Pro)* Familiarity with high power broadcast transmitter exciter systems such as the Rohde & Swartz exciters.* Understanding of transmitter cooling systems, radio frequency filtering and Dielectric RF lines, waveguides and Antennas, HVAC systems and diesel powered AC generators.* Basic understanding of microwave transmission and reception specifically those of Vislink Ink. (MRC). Electronic News Gathering (ENG) receives antennas as well as bonded cell delivery systems.* 3 Years Experience in networking with configuration, networking protocols, devices and routing, authentication TCP/IP, DNS and DHCP settings* Must be able to perform medium/heavy physical work which includes:Lifting and carrying equipment ranging from 25 lbs. to 50 lbs.* External applicants must submit a resume/CV through nbcunicareers.com to be considered* Willingness to travel and work flexible hours* Must be willing to work at the station in Miramar and Florida locations.* Must have a valid Florida driver’s license, class E.* Must be willing to take drug test and submit to a background investigation* Must be 18 years or greater* Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United StatesMust be covered by Solutions, NBCU’s Alternative Dispute Resolution ProgramDesired Characteristics* Knowledge of complex system; Encoding, Media Transport, Web interactivity, Automation, NLE, & fiber distribution, etc.* Experience in troubleshooting and analyzing IP networks with a solid knowledge of file-based delivery, compression and transcoding.* Hands-on experience with server/workstation/laptop hardware configurationmaintenance and repair (Dell, HP, Apple)* Knowledge of Windows XP, Windows 10, 2003-2008 Server, MS Office/Exchange* Proven understanding of media asset management (MAM) and digital distribution concepts as well as News Room Computer Systems (NRCS)* Ability to learn quickly and adapt to ever-changing News requirements* Ability to work under pressure in a tight deadline, fast paced environment* Customer service focus and excellent interpersonal skills* Strong verbal and written communication skills* Deployment automation software* Bilingual a plus: English/Spanish
