Summary:
Provides accurate, safe and cost effective drug distribution and clinical services through supervised efforts of supportive staff to patients of the hospital. Participates in a departmental training program to develop knowledge and skills needed to provide rational pharmaceutical care.
Detailed responsibilities:
• Provides clinical and distributive pharmacy services consistent with departmental policy and procedure for service areas to which the resident is assigned. Follows description of Clinical Pharmacist. Attends department staff meetings.
• Participates in inter-diciplinary medical rounds and other conferences that occur for the services of assigned practice areas. The resident will present in-services / seminars to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff.
• Identifies therapeutic issues and problems. Assists in developing professional practice patterns to resolve issues and problems.
• Serves as a preceptor for Doctor of Pharmacy students in clinical clerkship or pharmacy internship. Actively participates in staff development and educational programs including case presentations, journal clubs, CEs and other departmental education projects.
• Develops and completes residency research project. Presents research at ASHP Mid-year Clinical Meeting and Florida Residency Conference.
• Meets with Residency Program Manager as needed to evaluate progress and program expectations. Meets with rotation preceptors for education and evaluation of goals and objectives of rotation. Meets with rotation preceptor at the end of the rotation for evaluation of performance.???????????????
